In 1898, the first film camera was invented by Thomas Edison and his company, at an estimated cost of $3,000. It would take another 20 years for cameras to become affordable enough for the general public. The first movie in which we can see footage from a video camera is a Swedish short called "Everyday Life in Africa" which was filmed in 1911.The Lumiere brothers continued to develop the technology throughout their careers and released "The Making of L'Arroseur arrosée". This is often considered by historians as one of the first movies with sound and it tells us about how they filmed their process.
