when was video camera invented

In 1898, the first film camera was invented by Thomas Edison and his company, at an estimated cost of $3,000. It would take another 20 years for cameras to become affordable enough for the general public. The first movie in which we can see footage from a video camera is a Swedish short called "Everyday Life in Africa" which was filmed in 1911.The Lumiere brothers continued to develop the technology throughout their careers and released "The Making of L'Arroseur arrosée". This is often considered by historians as one of the first movies with sound and it tells us about how they filmed their process. The Lumiere Brothers were able to create an early version of what we now call cinema. Edison's movie camera was called the kinetograph, and it was made up of a Daguerreocamera fitted with an electric motor and an on-board device for viewing images. The Lumiere Brothers' cameras were hand cranked and also constituted a motion picture camera. The modern motion picture camera is known as the 'cinematograph'.

When did video cameras first become popular?

What is the difference between video and movie cameras?

A camcorder is a digital video camera with some recording capabilities. A movie camera is a motion picture film camera. A movie camera records the image on film stock, which then has to be processed before it can be viewed. The most common type of camcorder uses cassette tapes for storage of its videos and movies. The videos and movies can be viewed in your home using a VCR or by connecting it to your TV. Most high-end camcorders have stereo microphones built in, allowing you to record audio to go with your video or movie capture.
